Louise might be the cutest baby ever after my own two babies, who are now teenagers and definitely past the cooing stage, but still sweet. Her parents are pretty dang sweet, too, and sent me home with three bottles of good wine from Flat Creek Winery where dad, Sean, works as executive chef. When they aren’t teaching Louise to gurgle in Spanish—her mama is a top notch Spanish teacher at one of Austin’s best schools—they are enjoying the bliss of new parenthood and making it look way easier than I ever recall! You’ll see near the end, though, that even the calmest of infants has her limits. Here’s a short story in pictures about a love affair with the newest addition to their family. And who can blame them?

A clear, professional headshot is very important in this day where we make split second decisions on who we will give our business. I ask my clients to think about the qualities they want to communicate in their headshot to help them create the most effective image possible. How do we do that? Through background, lighting, facial expression, body language, simple gestures and gaze.

Valerie called me up a couple of days ago and needed headshots quickly. She’s a CPA and a transplant from New York building her business here in ATX. We shot for 30 minutes and these are a few of the images we captured.

I had the honor of photographing Janet, my friend and somatic therapist, recently. Our collaborative goal was to communicate the healing energy of meditative movement. To say the joy in her practice was contagious would be a gross understatement. An east coast native, she’s busy now creating a new website so she can bring her wisdom and experience to the Austin area.
