I spent the afternoon at an engagement shoot with this fun south Austin family a few weeks before Mom and Dad tied the knot. They’ve created a sweet family nest. Everywhere you turn in their home there’s beauty, whimsy, thought and heart. Stay tuned to see their beautiful wedding photos from Fischer Hall!

This fun loving couple tied the knot in true Austin style at a private residence on Lake Austin. After they married barefoot under beautiful old pecan trees, they made their getaway after dark on a ski boat just before the skies dumped buckets of rain…..by far the most adventuresome getaway ever for this wedding photographer!

I met Genny and Keith in 2009 in San Francisco when they hired me to photograph their wedding and engagement. On a trip back to the Bay Area a few weeks ago, I got the great pleasure of photographing them with their now 2-year-old son, Max. Genny and Keith were game for exploring back then —you’ll see some fun shots of their wedding and engagement in this post—and having a toddler has, from what I can tell, only given Keith an excuse to play on the monkey bars himself! And yes, his shirt says “Dad” in code. Love that Max. :)

Maddie and Sylvie met in diapers. Literally. Now they are both entering their senior years of high school in Oakland, California. I love it when I get the chance to photograph the same families as the kids grow up and the adults—ahem—seemingly grow younger..:) In a couple of hours we were able to get senior shots, family shots and headshots for everyone who needed them! Thank you Leslie, Matthew, Albert and Jamie for the treat of photographing your families over and over. Stay tuned for flashbacks from both families on the blog.

I’ll be back in Oakland in October for more sessions. Stay tuned for dates.

This young family is in the thick of it—a 4-month-old and a 2-year-old—it doesn’t get any busier than this! Shoots with very young children are great teachers for being present. You have to capture what is there in the moment—sometimes little ones are engaged, sometimes they are exploring, and sometimes they are ready to go..:) It’s all the truth of these early days of parenthood. Thank you Larry and Cassie for a fun morning!
